The GOP is the PON: Party of No

Today the Republican National Committee issued a document they called, “A Disappointing Month“.
As the RNC put it, “Obama’s first month has been marked by wasteful spending, failed bipartisanship, and questionable ethics.”
Whatever.

Rep. Cantor’s Effin’ Spokesman

Call me crazy but I thought Congressman Frank Wolf was the only GOP Congressman from Virginia who employs idiots on his staff. How wrong I am!
It turns out Congressman Eric Cantor does, too.

President Obama’s News Conference

I’m watching it live right now and I am so happy that I am not watching President John McCain. That’s all. Get back to what you were doing.

A Narrow Democratic Win in Fairfax

Yesterday Democrat Sharon Bulova won a narrow victory in the special election to elect a new chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. After Obama carried the county by 21 points in November, it should alarm all Democrats that this election was even close. Gov. Kaine warned us that we should pay attention, but [...]

In Fairfax, it’s Election Day All Over Again

Voters in Fairfax County are headed to the polls on Feb. 3 to elect a new chairman of the County Board of Supervisors. The special election is pitting Democrat Sharon Bulova against Republican Pat Herrity. The chairmanship became vacant when Chairman Gerry Connolly resigned to assume the congressional seat he won in November. The county [...]

This is Just Plain Cool

Newspapers around the world covered this week’s inauguration of President Obama. Check out this mosaic of their headlines. How does this technology work exactly?

Maybe Nancy Has Hope

I don’t know if my muse, Nancy Pfotenhauer has hope. I don’t know her inauguration plans either. Perhaps she went to Josh Bolten and Andy Card’s party at Glen Echo Park, MD  last night. Or maybe she fled town, too depressed over what what all the Fake Virginians and Fake Americans did on November 4.
Or [...]

Caroline Kennedy: The More You Know

You know, I imagine that, um, the parents of teenagers across America, you know, will use this video to help shame their kids, um, into being more precise in speaking. You know?

Lessons from the Ga. Sen. Runoff

Earlier this evening, news organizations projected that GOP Sen. Saxby Chambliss won reelection to the U.S. Senate over Democrat Jim Martin.
My hats off to Jim Martin who came closer than anyone ever thought a Democrat could in Georgia. I think this campaign offers lessons for Democrats running next year in Virginia as well as in [...]

Congressman-Elect Tom Perriello by 749 Votes

Although the results in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District are not yet final, Tom Perriello increased his lead after a bipartisan canvass of every county and city in the district.
On Friday at news conference in Martinsville, Perriello declared victory, with unofficial State Board of Elections results showing a 749 vote margin for the Democrat. Former 5th District [...]

GOP Pundit Hates “Poor Old People” of Alexandria, Va.

What is wrong with Fox News commentator Fred Barnes? When he complains about the “poor old people” waiting with him in Alexandria’s “early voting” line who is he referring to? Perhaps it’s Joe McCain, who dropped the F-bomb in the direction of an Alexandria 911 dispatcher during. He lives in “Communist Country.”
And Fred, Virginia [...]

Joe McCain 911 Tapes on WJLA

Joe McCain’s 911 call, for those who missed it, led the Senator’s brother to apologize to Alexandria officials and the dispatcher he cursed at. He also indicated that he would no longer be volunteering for his brother’s campaign. (Look for a McCain poll bounce as a result.)
Boy, I bet thanksgiving at Roberta’s house will be tense.
