Have you seen the wingnuts who’ve crashed the Congressional town hall meetings of Democrats to shout down any discussion of health care? A new Democratic National Committee asks if you’ve had enough of the GOP mob. Well have you?

I’ve been amused today to watch the anti-Obama Republicans grapple with how they can oppose the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. To understand just how boxed in they are politically, it’s helpful to review their history. Continue reading
North Carolina GOP Congresswoman Virginia Foxx has apparently launched a competition with Minnesota GOP Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann to see who can lie more. Here is Rep. Foxx’s latest entry, which I think beats Rep. Bachmann’s entry where she blamed the Great Depression on FDR. Yes, what Rep. Foxx said is a BIGGER lie than that. Continue reading
So today Senator Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) announced that he was becoming a Democrat in preparation for his reelection bid next year. I use the phrase “becoming a Democrat” because he said that he’s not leaving the Republican Party as much the GOP left him. In a lengthy news conference Specter candidly explained that he looked at the polls and it looked unlikely he could win the GOP nomination. Sen. Specter was quick to point out that he wouldn’t be changing his positions on any issues. Continue reading
In recount news, today we learned a little bit more of just how desperate the Republicans in N.Y. and Minn. are to hold onto power. Continue reading
A new ad from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee claims Republicans have done a “hit and run” with our economy. Of particular note is the use of Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH) who was once President Obama’s nominee to run the Commerce Department.
This morning on Meet the Press, David Gregory ran a video clip of GOP strategist Mike Murphy’s appearance on the show from March 1. Murphy was the campaign manager for Sen. John McCain’s 2000 effort. On the future of the GOP, Murphy said:
The country is changing. Ronald Reagan won in 1980 with 51% of the vote. We all worship Ronald Reagan. But if that election had been held with the current demographics in America today, Ronald Reagan would have gotten 47 percent of the vote. The math is changing. Anglo vote is 74 percent now not 89. And if we don’t modernize conservatism, we are going to have a party of 25 percent of the vote going to Limbaugh rallies, joining every applause line, ripping the furniture up, we’re going to be in permanent minority status.
Roll tape forward to this morning when David Gregory showed Murphy’s remarks to Sen. John McCain and asked him, “How does conservatism modernize itself, how does the party get back to power?” Continue reading
Just in, Michael Steele caved and apologized to Rush Limbaugh. Wow, that was quick! Continue reading
So apparently Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele isn’t too happy with Rush “I want Barack Obama to fail” Limbaugh and his speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference this past weekend.
In reaction to Limbaugh’s tirade, Steele told CNN’s D.L. Hughley yesterday that he thought Limbaugh was an “entertainer… his whole thing is entertainment,” and his show is “incendiary” and “ugly.” Continue reading
