The Budgetary Games of Boehner and Cantor

Let me get this straight. In 2001 when he left office, President Bill Clinton left President George W. Bush and a Republican Congress budget surpluses as far as the eye could see. Then the GOP racks up huge budget deficits and runs our economy into a ditch with corporate tax loopholes, tax cuts for the richest among us and a war in Iraq waged because of lies about WMD or faulty intelligence — pick your poison.

Then voters wise up and rebuke the GOP, giving control of the Congress to Democrats in 2006 and electing Barack Obama president in 2008. One would think after that drubbing  that the GOP would be chastened and would recognize that the public doesn’t trust them to manage the government’s budget or lead our economy.

Apparently not, but President Obama did not get one GOP vote for his stimulus plan. Not one. Thankfully, the Democratic National Committee is fighting back.
